MIcrogrant Program

Rice County Area United Way is now offering microgrants between $100 and $1,000 to local groups facing urgent, community-based challenges.

Eligibility: Microgrants should be used for projects that:

  1. Have limited access to funding and support
  2. Affect members in the Rice County community in our target areas of: Financial stability, Health and Education.
  3. Are urgently needed

While your group does not need to be registered as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization, your project should focus on a charitable/exempt purpose.

Microgrants can be applied for at any time from August 2022 through June 2023, as long as funding is available. Applications will be reviewed bi-monthly. In cases where timing is sensitive, the review committee will consider one-off application reviews. We anticipate making awards by the 15th of the following months: August, October, December, February, April, June.

While United Way does not require a specific report on use of funds, we request an informal account of the use of funds be made to Elizabeth Child, Executive Director, Rice County Area United Way. Contact her at elizabeth@ricecountyunitedway.org or call 507-664-3510 to discuss how best to communicate your project results.
