Katie Warren is the chief marketing officer and associate vice president of marketing and communications at St. Olaf College, where she leads a division responsible for brand marketing, communications, events, and streaming in support of the college’s enrollment and fundraising goals. Katie lives in Northfield with her family and enjoys being part of local events and community life.
1) What motivates you to serve on the board for Rice County Area United Way?
My family and I have called Northfield home for 16 years, and I have worked in the community for the past decade. I care deeply about this place and am grateful for the many positive ways it has impacted my life.
I am motivated to serve on the Rice County Area United Way Board because of the many ways it helps make our community stronger. Its work touches so many important parts of people’s lives—from early childhood literacy and access to education to food security, health and wellness, and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. I especially value United Way’s commitment to supporting neighbors who may be facing the greatest challenges and to bringing people and organizations together to create meaningful change.
2) What's one of your favorite places in Rice County? Why is it your favorite?
One of my favorite things about Rice County is the abundance of parks and bike trails. I love that we have wonderful communities like Northfield and Faribault while also being so close to nature. Getting outside on the trails or spending time in one of our parks is a great reminder of why I love living here.
3) Share what excites you most about our United Way.
What excites me most about United Way is its collective impact. By investing in and convening a wide range of local organizations, Rice County Area United Way helps address community needs in meaningful ways. That collaborative approach strengthens the network of support that allows individuals, families, and our entire community to thrive.
