Annika Getz is a Sophomore at Carleton College, and United Way’s new Marketing and Communications specialist. She has done communications work for non-profit organizations such as the League of Women’s Voters of Minnesota, and has done extensive volunteer work with Minnesota’s Office of the Secretary of State. She is passionate about nonprofit work and civic engagement, and enjoys finding ways to support her community.
1) What motivates you to work for Rice County Area United Way?
I am motivated to work for Rice County Area United Way because it helps me to feel like I’m contributing to the community in a major way. Through United Way, I’m able to show my support for a wide range of non-profit organizations in the area, all of which work tirelessly to better the lives of Rice County’s community members. Rice County has been a wonderful place to live the past year and a half, and I’m very grateful to be able to give back!
2) What's one of your favorite places in Rice County? Why is it your favorite?
My two favorite places in Rice County are Division Street in Northfield, and Central Avenue in Faribault. Both are the downtown areas of their respective cities, and I think they perfectly encapsulate the wonderful small town charm that can be found in Rice County!
3) Share what excites you most about our United Way.
The people! Everyone I have met through United Way has been incredibly kind and dedicated to the work they do, and I find myself constantly inspired by them and their work. I cannot wait to continue to meet United Way employees and affiliates, and further our work in the community!
