Rice County Area United Way is fortunate to have one student from each college working as Marketing and Communications Specialists. We're thrilled to introduce Suneeya Musse, a freshman at St. Olaf College working with United Way through the community based work study program. Born and raised in St. Paul, Suneeya coordinates the United Way monthly newsletter and other communications projects. She loves books, film, and spending time with her siblings.
1) What motivates you to work for Rice County Area United Way?
I am motivated to work for United Way because of their attention to communities in need of support. United Way exposes me to a variety of ways anyone can help contribute to uplifting the communities of Rice County, and lets me know how I can use my skills to help.
2) What's one of your favorite places on campus? Why is it your favorite?
One of my favorite places on St. Olaf’s campus is the Kierkegaard Library. St. Olaf has a wide variety of research and classic texts in their libraries, and Kierkegaard Library holds a special charm to it, with its intimate setting and unique architecture. It has rare editions in its basement and is a perfect place if you want a comforting quiet to study or read.
3) Share what excites you most about our United Way.
What excites me the most about United Way is working with a nonprofit that strives to better the lives of people in Rice County. I am excited to develop my skills in media and gain experience on how organizations work, and how they affect the lives of those they support.
